Vologda Regional State Philharmonic – Gavrilin Hall
Description
The Vologda Regional Philharmonic, named after Valery Gavrilin, is one of the cultural centres of the Vologda Region.
The Philharmonic is housed in one of the most beautiful buildings in Vologda — an architectural monument of the 18th century. Originally built as part of the town estate of landowner Kolychev, the building was handed over to the city authorities in 1822. For over a hundred years, this gracious house served as the home of the Nobility Assembly.
Today, no major creative project in the Vologda Region takes place without the active involvement of the Philharmonic's ensembles.
Currently the Vologda Philharmonic is a home to several acclaimed ensembles:
- The Vologda Philharmonic Male Choir
- The "Grand Prix" Vocal Ensemble
- The Vologda Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra
- The "Russian North" Song and Dance Ensemble
- The "Solntsevorot" Folk Music Ensemble
- The Russian Folk Instruments Governor's Orchestra
