Monument to Joseph Stalin

The location chosen for the monument to the Soviet leader is no coincidence. It is in his former house at 33 Marii Ulyanovoy Street where Joseph Stalin lived from 1911 to 1912 during his exile to Vologda. Today, the building houses a branch of the Vologda Memorial Estate — the Museum «Vologda Exile». The monument to the statesman originally was installed outside this house in the late 1930s, but was removed in the late 1950s. The new monument was installed in March 2025.
