World of Forgotten Things
World of Forgotten Things
In a wooden house from the mid-19th century on a quiet street near the Kremlin, in the historic center of Vologda, lies the "World of Forgotten Things" museum.
The exhibition consists of two sections: on the first floor, the "World of Forgotten Things" introduces visitors to the culture and lifestyle of townspeople in the pre-revolutionary era. Here, typological interiors of the 19th to early 20th centuries are recreated, including a living room, dining room, children's room, and study.
The second floor features the exhibition "History of Vologda Portraits of the 18th-19th Centuries" from the noble estates of the Vologda Governorate. The museum hosts literary and musical evenings, as well as children's events. Among the museum's visitors are often descendants of Vologda nobles, who carefully preserve family traditions.
The hall on the third floor hosts exhibitions of heirlooms from family collections and archives.
