The museum's exhibition is dedicated to the history and culture of Veliky Ustyug from the 12th to the 20th centuries.
Archaeological finds, weapons from the 12th to 16th centuries, and other materials testify to the early period of the city's history and the participation of Ustyug residents in the creation of a unified Russian state.
The halls display authentic items from the museum's collections, reflecting the contribution of Ustyug residents to the exploration of Siberia and the territories of Russian America, as well as to the development of trade with Western Europe and China.
Originals from the 17th to 19th centuries present Veliky Ustyug as a major trade and craft center.
The hall "Served the Fatherland" tells about the participation of Ustyug residents in the defense of the Motherland from the 14th to the early 20th century, including during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.
