Museum of Ancient Russian Art

The Museum of Ancient Russian Art is located in the Church of the Ascension (1648)—an outstanding monument of the Russian North, which preserves six 18th-century iconostases.

The museum features Ustyug icon painting from the 15th to 18th centuries, Stroganov facial embroidery, and handwritten and early printed books from the libraries of Ustyug monasteries and churches.

In addition to the exhibition, visitors can explore the interior of the church and visit all its chapels.
