Ustyuzhna Local History Museum
The Ustyuzhna Local History Museum was founded on June 30, 1921. Until 1926 it existed as the "Ustyuzhna Art Museum".
The museum's collections were formed from acquisitions from the State Museum Fund of the Hermitage, private individuals, institutions and organizations, as well as through archaeological and ethnographic expeditions involving museum staff. Part of the collections was augmented after the transfer of artworks, household items, clothing, etc. following the closure of local churches and nationalization of noble estates in the 1920s-1930s.
The oil painting collection features works by I.K. Aivazovsky, B.M. Kustodiev, K.Y. Kryzhitsky, Y.Y. Klever, and others.
One of the museum halls permanently hosts the exhibition "Birds and Animals of Our Region".
