Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God and Bell Tower
The Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God is an Orthodox church in Ustyuzhna, a prominent example of Stroganov Baroque architecture.
The church ensemble, consisting of the main church with two side chapels and a tent-roofed bell tower, is protected by the state as an architectural monument and is included in the list of cultural heritage sites of federal significance.
The church was built in 1694 at the expense of Grigory Stroganov, who according to legend fell seriously ill while in Ustyuzhna and recovered after praying before the revealed Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.
During Soviet rule, the church was closed for only six years before being returned to believers, and remains operational to this day.
