Великий Устюг

Veliky Ustyug

Veliky Ustyug is one of the most ancient cities of the Russian North, founded in the XII century, which has preserved the atmosphere of old merchant Russia. Here you can see unique ensembles of white stone temples, ancient monasteries and museums of folk crafts, where silverware is still created in the traditional technique of northern blackening.

The city is famous not only for its historical heritage, but also for the fact that here is the Manor of Ded Moroz - one of the most popular places for winter tourism in Russia. During the New Year holidays Veliky Ustyug turns into a real fairy tale, attracting thousands of tourists.

At any time of the year Veliky Ustyug gives travelers a unique atmosphere of Russian antiquity, picturesque views of the Sukhona River and the opportunity to plunge into the true northern culture and traditions.
